About Us

The Upper Room PTSD Support Group was founded by trauma survivor Jim McNulty in 2012 as a social concerns ministry of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Rockville, MD.  Jim was one of three people taken hostage at Discovery Channel headquarters in Silver Spring, MD, on Sept. 1, 2010.  He credits his faith for saving his life and helping him heal after his ordeal.

Of course, healing with PTSD doesn't mean it completely goes away, but rather, it means you learn to live with it.  The Upper Room PTSD Support group allows survivors to come together once a month and share this moment in their healing journeys.  It is through this sharing that we can see commonalities in our recoveries and know that God is with us through it all—Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

If you would like to join our mailing list, learn how you can start your own chapter of The Upper Room PTSD Support Group, or invite Jim to speak at an upcoming event, please fill out the form below.
